Orange County Walmart
Walmart is excited to propose a new store in Orange County on the north side of Route 3 just west of Route 20, that has been carefully designed to blend into the rural character of the area. We will leave a 100-foot natural tree buffer along Route 3 and set the store back 1200 feet to significantly block the view from the highway. The building is one of Walmart’s newest designs, featuring a lower profile façade with sloping rooflines and earth-tone colors. Numerous site amenities will also be featured including extensive landscaping and promenade style pedestrian walkways.
This property is already zoned for commercial use and is designated in the County’s Comprehensive Plan for economic development. The proposed 140,000 square foot store is expected to create 300 jobs, contribute to the County’s tax base and offer residents of this area needed retail options at low prices.
The store will feature an extensive selection of merchandise, a full grocery store, bakery, delicatessen and garden center. Walmart has already entered into a number of relationships with local growers across Virginia, as part of a national effort to reduce energy consumption and assist local economies by buying more products locally. An independently-certified study showed that Wal-Mart saves the average American household more than $2,500 per year, regardless of where they choose to shop. Shoppers will also benefit from Wal-Mart's $4 Prescription Drug Program that has saved customers more than $1.6 billion dollars since it was introduced.
